Make Your Own Pouring Set
There are so many options for pouring. You can use
two containers that are the same or two different
ones as we show here. If the child is pouring water,
you will want to include a sponge. If the opening is
small, you may want to include a funnel. Create a
color coordinated set with the T250 trays on page 5,
containers, funnels, and sponges on these pages.

Glass Decanters
Use a funnel to fill the narrow neck of the Pinch
Decanter (1½ oz.) — it’s not as easy as it looks!
The flared top of the Small Glass Decanter (3½
oz.) allows children to easily pour from any side.
These pieces also make attractive small vases.

They Can Handle It
Grasping a handle and pouring water
or grains helps children develop fine
motor control. One principle behind
the activities Montessori designed
was that “control of error” be evident.
Children learn to correct themselves
in their work, eliminating the need for
adults to point out mistakes. In this
spirit, most of the pitchers and dishes
we offer are breakable.
